WELCOME TO OUR BLOG! Each month we will profile and feature a local teacher, creative, maker and all-round extraordinary ordinary person. First up..
Hi! I am Kay-Lea and I’m a 22 year old student with a love for the linen section of op-shops, brown leather suitcases and sitting in the sun with a good book.
I… make flowers and other little home wares using fabrics I find on op-shop adventures and in my grandma’s cupboard.
What got me started….. was not always being able to afford the beautiful fresh flowers at markets, but still wanting something to fill vases on my windowsill. I was also living with my grandma at the time and her creativity has always been an inspiration.
In my spare time I… like to ride my bike, visit family and check out local markets.
The best thing about my craft is …… I normally have enough time to still do the things I love in between doing uni work!
My dream is…. pretty simple – to be happy with where I’m at in life and to eventually have a little studio area I can fill with crafty goodness
My favourite things about Wollongong are….. that it’s a small city in a beautiful location which inspires me to enjoy being outdoors and everything is easily accessible.
Between beach and bush, I choose…. bush. But since living in Wollongong, I’ve come to appreciate the beach, especially in summer.
The weirdest advice I’ve ever got that turned out to be right is….. when travelling, bring lots of ziplock bags! They are the handiest things for packing and storing random things for scrapbooking.
You can find me and my stuff at…. the Wild Rumpus Maker’s Market! and you can find my flowers at Milk Thieves indie design store in Central Chambers, Crown Street Mall and hopefully soon a boutique in Nowra.
My blog is kayleaanne.blogspot.com.au and I post little findings and happenings on my Instagram @kayleae
