About the Class
Shibori is the traditional Japanese practice of tie-dying, using blocks, rings and other shapes to create beautiful intricate patterns. The traditional colour used in shibori is indigo dye, and this class will teach you how to use indigo to make two beautiful silk shibori scarves. You will also be able to practice on a fabric piece – make a cotton scarf, wrapping paper or fabric for craft projects!
WHAT YOU TAKE HOME:
2 shibori dyed silk scarves
1 shibori dyed fabric piece
Your craft clothes! No Sunday Best please!
A plastic bag to take home your almost dried pieces.
Indigodaze grew out of an idea that I had while on a Yoga/Art retreat in Bali when I was recovering from breast cancer. Inspired by a book about Eco-dyeing by India Flynt and by the Indigo Shibori fabric that I had seen in Japan, I decided to take my life in a new direction.
Previously, I did not have the time to explore these techniques between full time art teaching and raising three children (now young adults).
I am mainly a printmaker, but I also design fabric, a bush walker and an American Tribal Style Belly Dancer.
Currently, I am casual teaching and creating as much as I can, and loving life!
