40.00 Lukes Backyard (address provided after booking) 11.30-1.30, 25th September 2016
About the Class
Bees are one of the earth’s most magical creatures, and backyard beekeeping is both achievable and possible, creating homemade honey as well as protecting our poor endangered bees.
Join Luke in the backyard as he provides an introduction to the basics of beekeeping, including checking out a stingless hive, honey-tasting and more.
NB: As the class is held at a private residence, the location address will be sent to booked participants a week prior to the class.
WHAT TO BRING // Where long sleeved clothing, hat, suncream
WHAT YOU GET // First hand look at bee-keeping in action. A taste of various honeys and a jar of your very own to take home
Have been interested in bees, permaculture and all things growing for a number of years. This year I have embarked on turning a 1.5 acre weed infested block into a small mixed farm in Bulli.
I did a course on natural beekeeping with Tim Malfroy a few years back and have become fascinated with these wonderful and important creatures. I’ve taught backyard bee-keeping for Wild Rumpus every year for the past 3 years.
